Visitations cancelled due to flu outbreak: Corrections
No reports of TB infections in jail

Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) says that family visitations for inmates have been cancelled due to the outbreak of H1N1.

MSC information officer on Sunday reported to RaajjeTV that family visitations, granted under the jail procedures, have been cancelled due to the flu outbreak in the country. The official said the visitations will resume as normal when the flu crisis has been controlled.

The official also said that inmates will be held in their quarters, as jail movements have been restricted due to the outbreak.

MSC official denied that there was an outbreak of TB in jail, noting that Correction’s medical department had not reported any such cases.

HPA has said that two had succumbed to H1N1. The country is still under a level three alert.
