10 people have died from accidents so far this year.

Looking at statistics accumulated by RaajjeMV, nine men and one woman have died from accidents on the road and at sea.

The first death was in February when a 74-year-old man was fatally injured in Fuvahmulah after on Link Road. The second death was in March when a 32-year-old man died in an accident in Hulhumale’.

The third death was in Apil in Addu City where an elderly man died in an accident on Link Road. In that same month, another elderly person died in an accident in GDh. Vaadhoo.

A Maldivian and foreigner died in early May after two speedboats collided and in late May a man and woman died after their motorcycle sped off control and fell into the sea at the harbor in N. Holhudhoo.

In June, a 14-year-old man out jogging in Hulhumale’ died after being hit by a motorcycle and on Friday night, an 18-year-old died after he fell off his motorcycle in Hulhumale’.

Neither the police service nor the Transport Authority publicize statistics on accidental deaths.
