The Islamic Ministry has begun distribution of a total of 50 tonnes of date palms gifted by the Saudi Arabian government.
The ministry will be giving away exactly one packet of dates to each household. To receive this, the household must verify themselves with a copy of their home registration, national registration, and rent agreements as applicable.
Distribution is open from 9:00am to 6:00pm at the Housing Development Corporation’s offices in capital city Malé and respective local government councils in the atolls and islands.
The Saudi government often gifts date palms to Maldives ahead of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. These are distributed annually until depletion.
