Police officer who was taking part in a training course in Dhaalu atoll died from a brain infection, informs Kudahuvadhoo Hospital.

An official from the hospital told RaajjeMV that the young man was in a coma when he was treated there, adding that he was suffering from a high fever when he was brought to the hospital.

The official said that doctors believe that he had developed a brain infection.

Police, on Sunday night, said that the officer had succumbed while being transferred to capital Malé City for further treatment. They are yet to comment on reports that he had died from a brain infection.

His body was brought to Malé late Sunday night.

The officer was in Vaanee island of Dhaalu atoll, to participate in a police training course.
