Mohamed Shafau Hassan, former managing director of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC), has been arrested.

Shafau Hassan was arrested Sunday evening for undisclosed reasons.

He was MRDC’s managing director for a short while, after being the head of marketing and corporate affairs at the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

Shafau previously worked in telecommunications company Dhiraagu and central bank MMA. He was appointed to MRDC last November but was dismissed less than a month later.
