Residents of Sh. Feevah have expressed grave concerns over the skyrocketing cost of living, difficulties in accessing essential medicines, and the stagnation of local development projects.
Every citizen interviewed on RaajjeTV’s "Haalu Kihineh?" program expressed deep concern, stating they have faced numerous hardships since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assumed office.
Highlighting the severe shortage of essential medicine, residents of Feevah noted that medication is currently unavailable on the island, forcing them to travel to Male' or other islands within the atoll. Many residents further emphasized that, in some instances, they are even compelled to source prescriptions from abroad when they are unavailable anywhere within the Maldives.
At the same time, a significant number of citizens have expressed concern as the rising cost of goods continues to pose challenges to their daily lives.
The cost of living has become so high that it is impossible to make ends meet. When I give my wife 500 Rufiyaa to go to the shop, she returns with only a handful of items.A resident of Feevah
Residents of Feevah have also reported that a significant number of people have been dismissed from their jobs. During an interview with the "Haalu Kihineh?" program, an elderly resident stated that four of their children were terminated from their positions without any given reason. Furthermore, another individual shared that three of their children had been dismissed, highlighting the perceived injustices faced by one of their children during their employment at Fenaka Corporation.
A family member of mine was offered a job at Fenaka after successfully passing the interview process. However, when we went to the Fenaka office during the second round of the election, a senior official there named Latheef confronted us. When I asked him what had happened regarding my sibling's employment, his response was: "Do we have to provide for you people under every single administration?" This was his answer, despite the fact that the child had already been officially notified via phone that they had secured the position following the interview.A resident of Feevah
Another citizen has reported being dismissed from their position due to dissatisfaction from the PNC Steering Committee, following a sequence where they were initially terminated and subsequently rehired.
Furthermore, the residents of Feevah have criticized the government, stating that no development projects are currently underway as promised by President Muizzu.
In Feevah, there are numerous projects for which agreements were signed and foundation stones laid during this term, yet many of those foundations remain invisible today. Our greatest hope right now lies in the land plots we have been allocated; I myself have been granted a plot and know its number, but the land itself is nowhere to be seen and the area remains inaccessible. MTCC was contracted to reclaim the land with sand and develop the roads, but these tasks remain unfinished. During the President’s visit to this island to meet with the residents, he explicitly stated in his address that these issues would be resolved.A resident of Feevah
Another resident of Feevah highlighted difficulties in accessing the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) service, which was launched during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. The resident noted that while the RTL ferry previously operated on a regular schedule, the quality of the service has been steadily declining since President Muizzu took office. He further stated that the ferry now operates inconsistently and without a reliable schedule.
Residents of Feevah have also voiced their disapproval of the proposed Ras Male' project. They alleged that the project is being funded by halting development initiatives in the atolls to create a residential area for Israelis.
Consequently, the residents of the island have stated that the situation will only improve once President Muizzu's administration is changed, asserting that he is responsible for the country's current predicament.
