The Shaviyani Feevah Island Council has stated that Feevah School has been without a principal since November 2025.
The President of the Feevah Island Council, Ali Rasheed, along with the local residents, have expressed their deep concern regarding this matter.
Residents of the island have expressed concern that any functional school with an active student body must have a principal, noting that the current vacancy at Feevah School has caused significant disruptions to its administrative and academic operations. The island council further revealed that for the first six months following the principal's departure, salary slips continued to be generated for the position despite the post being vacant.
Despite meetings between the island's residents, the local council, and the Ministry of Education regarding this issue, the lack of a resolution continues to spark widespread concern. Residents have expressed their frustration, stating that the Ministry's role is undermined if it cannot appoint a principal to the school. The community further highlighted that the school's administrative functions must be overseen by a principal, noting that the ongoing vacancy is causing significant disruptions to the school's overall management.
Furthermore, the council noted that Feevah School has not held a prize-giving ceremony in four years. As these ceremonies are vital events for celebrating student achievements and boosting morale, the council highlighted this as a major concern for the local community. Both the residents and the school have called on the Ministry of Education to take immediate action to resolve this issue.
