More than 8,000 students begin O-Level examinations this year

The O-Level examinations commenced today with the HSC Dhivehi language paper, featuring over 8,000 students across 267 centers nationwide. Under a newly implemented government policy, students are now required to sit for a minimum of four subjects, with the state covering the examination fees for these mandatory components.

The O-Level examinations for this year have commenced, with more than 8,000 students participating.

The O-Level examinations commenced on Sunday with the HSC Dhivehi language paper.

The examination for students completing Grade 10 is scheduled to continue until November 12, 2026.

Regarding the examinations, the Ministry of Education stated that 8,111 students are participating in this year's O-Level IGCSE exams, while 7,776 students are sitting for the HSC examinations.

Furthermore, the Ministry stated that 3,222 students will sit for the examinations across 25 centers in the Greater Male' area, while 2,869 students will participate at 242 centers located in the atolls.

The current administration has revised the regulations for O-Level examinations, making it mandatory for students to sit for four core subjects. These compulsory subjects are Islam, Dhivehi, Mathematics, and English. The government will also cover the examination fees for these specific subjects.
