Police seize shipment of vape cartridges during operation targeting alleged money laundering scheme involving sale of vaping products

Following the interception of two Maldivian nationals and a subsequent apartment search, authorities are now investigating the suspects on allegations of smuggling, illegal trade, and money laundering.

Police have seized a quantity of vape cartridges during an operation into the illegal importation and sale of vapes, as well as suspected money laundering activities in the Maldives.
The Maldives Police Service announced on Tuesday that the items were seized during an operation conducted on September 21, following a tip-off received by Police Intelligence.
Police stated that during the operation, two Maldivian men were intercepted and questioned on the street, leading to a search of their motorcycle and an apartment in the Amaan Udhares building believed to be linked to them.
Police reported that a search of the apartment led to the seizure of 156 vape cartridges and nano sticks, along with more than 6,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa suspected to be proceeds from criminal activity.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
