The terminated staff allege that the move was politically motivated and claim they have yet to receive the three-month severance pay initially promised. A significant number of Fenaka Corporation employees have been dismissed following the transfer of the company’s branch in M. Naalaafushi to STELCO.
In an interview with RaajjeTV’s "Haalu Kihineh" program, a resident of Naalaafushi stated that they had been employed at Fenaka for six years. They noted that their employment was terminated without any prior warning, despite maintaining a consistent and satisfactory performance record.
He stated that his dismissal occurred abruptly during the transition of the Fenaka branch to STELCO, despite having already been instructed to report for duty at the new utility provider. He alleged that his termination was the result of government influence.

Another resident from the island stated that he was also dismissed after six years of service at Fenaka. Expressing his dissatisfaction with the current administration, he noted that although he was promised three months' salary as severance upon termination, he has yet to receive the payment.

Another resident of the island stated that they had not faced any prior issues or disciplinary actions before abruptly receiving a termination notice. According to the individual, the notice specified that they were being dismissed with three months' salary as compensation. However, the individual noted that the promised salary payment has not yet been disbursed.
Another resident of the island stated that the majority of employees dismissed during the transition to STELCO were those who support the MDP.
