Only MDP can transform nation's economy and ensure a prosperous life for the citizens: Shahid

Former President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Abdulla Shahid, has stated that only the MDP can transform the nation's economic landscape and ensure a prosperous life for its citizens.

During his ongoing visit to Addu City, Shahid stated that the Maldives currently requires a capable and benevolent administration. He noted that since Addu City remains one of the strongest strongholds of the MDP, launching the efforts to transform the nation's economic and social landscape alongside the people of Addu sends a very clear message.

Speaking on the current situation in the Maldives, Shahid stated that a significant portion of the population is currently living in dire straits, barely managing to afford basic necessities.

He noted that the national debt has plunged into an uncontrollable abyss, particularly as the value of the dollar continues to soar. Shahid highlighted that these circumstances have led to an overwhelming increase in public concern.

Highlighting the challenges in accessing basic services, Shahid stated that the public is facing significant difficulties in obtaining essential items such as medicine and cooking gas. He further noted that even when seeking medical treatment during an illness, citizens are now forced to plead for assistance. Shahid described this as a profound burden currently being endured by the people.

Shahid stated that he was delivering a message of hope from Addu City. He emphasized that the nation's current fragile state can be transformed, asserting that the MDP is the only political ideology capable of achieving this.

The majority of Maldivian citizens are currently living on the brink of subsistence. The value of the dollar has skyrocketed, and the national debt has plunged to uncontrollable depths. This is the reality we face. Essential medicines are unavailable, and basic cooking gas is in short supply. When citizens require medical treatment, they are forced to beg for assistance. Public anxiety has reached its peak. Speaking from Addu City, the message I convey is one of hope. This situation can be changed. The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the only entity capable of bringing about this transformation.

Concluding his remarks, he stated that a future MDP administration would deliver the prosperous governance that the Maldivian people desire. Furthermore, Shahid assured that he would build a nation where citizens can achieve financial security and prosperity.
