Ibrahim Nazil, the Member of Parliament for South Hithadhoo and Leader of the MDP Parliamentary Group, has stated that the nation's development and economy have vanished into a mirage following the end of the MDP administration.
Speaking at a rally held in Addu City on Friday night, Nazil stated that the previous MDP administration was undertaking 78 projects in the city, with a total investment of five billion Rufiyaa. Nazil further noted that several of these projects had already been completed during the previous government's term.
Nazil noted that several projects have been completed, including land reclamation, road construction, and the initial phases of both the road development and harbor projects. The Member further stated that infrastructure development in schools has also been successfully finalized.
As I recall, there were 78 projects underway in Addu City, valued at over 5 billion Rufiyaa, with several of these initiatives already completed. These include land reclamation, road construction, and the first phase of road development, as well as the initial phase of harbor construction, among numerous other completed works.Ibrahim Nazil
Nazil stated that the ongoing projects in Addu City remain incomplete. He questioned the government's progress, specifically asking what has been achieved regarding the hospital, the second phase of the road development project, and the Link Road.
Despite all those efforts, the unfinished projects remain incomplete. What has been done for the hospital? What progress has been made on the second phase of the road development project? What has been achieved for the Link Road? This is the reality across every island in the Maldives.Ibrahim Nazil
Furthermore, Nazil stated that 83 employees in Addu City have already been dismissed, with reports indicating that this number is expected to rise tomorrow. He noted that the current state of the country's economy will make it increasingly difficult for these citizens to secure alternative employment. Nazil further asserted that these actions demonstrate the government's complete disregard for the future wellbeing of its citizens.
Nazil stated that President Muizzu assumed office with pledges to provide employment opportunities for the citizens and commitments to increase foreign currency inflows into the Maldives.
