Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that while the public struggles to access essential goods, the current administration continues to work towards stripping citizens of their fundamental rights.

Faisal made these remarks while speaking at the "Dhathivejje" protest held by the opposition MDP on Thursday night.

Faisal stated that today, every household in the Maldives is speaking of the extreme hardships they are currently facing.

Faisal stated that the public is facing significant challenges in accessing essential supplies, including medicine. He further noted that many of the fundamental rights previously secured by the citizens through great effort have now been lost.

Furthermore, Faisal stated that the extreme difficulty in obtaining dollars and the daily surge in exchange rates have left citizens unable to meet their basic needs, reaching a point of desperation. Faisal also alleged that the government is engaging in unnecessary actions and attempting to deceive the public to serve a specific agenda.

We will not waver in our efforts to secure these reforms and rights. What we are witnessing here today is the unwavering resolve of the MDP and those who value reform and human rights in the Maldives; they will continue to take a stand, undeterred by rain, sun, or extreme heat.

Furthermore, Faisal stated that the government must work to resolve the difficulties faced by the public. However, he noted that the government is instead working to infringe upon the rights of the people, asserting that the country's situation will not improve through such actions.

Faisal further assured that the MDP remains steadfast in its efforts to restore the lost rights of the people and ensure the establishment of good governance.
