President Muizzu did not 'shed a single drop of sweat' in the struggle to establish the Constitution: Shifaz

Former MDP Vice President Mohamed Shifaz has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu did not shed "even a single drop of sweat" in the struggle to establish the Constitution.

Speaking at the "Dhathivejje" protest held by the MDP on Thursday night, Shifaz stated that President Muizzu does not understand how the Maldivian people fought for their rights, as he has not been historically involved in political activism. Consequently, Shifaz remarked, inflicting hardship upon the citizens would not be a matter of great concern for the President.

Calling on the government to stop obstructing the MDP's efforts on behalf of the public, Shifaz stated that the party's current activities will continue until the exchange rate for the dollar is brought down.

Dr. Muizzu is not someone who shed a single drop of sweat in the collective struggle—which included all of you—to secure this Constitution. He has no understanding of how the Maldivian people fought for their rights, nor does he care. He has never been involved in the leadership of a political party, nor has he served in the People’s Majlis; he has never even had a crease in his shirt from any form of political activism. Consequently, he feels no remorse today, and it means nothing to him to inflict hardship upon the citizens.

He strongly criticized Home Minister Ali Ihusan.

Furthermore, Shifaz stated that the MDP will not back down in its efforts to secure the rights of the people, emphasizing that it is the party's responsibility to take action whenever the public faces hardships.
