FSM Fuel Shed in M. Mulah Still Incomplete Despite 2025 Deadline

The M. Mulah Island Council has expressed concern over the lack of progress on the Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) petrol shed project, noting that physical work has yet to commence ten months after the land was officially handed over. Although the government initially aimed to complete the project by October 2025, the council remains apprehensive about the timeline due to these ongoing delays.

It has been revealed that no progress has been made on the construction of the FSM fuel shed in M. Mulah, despite the government’s earlier pledge to complete the project by October 2025.

In an interview with RaajjeTV regarding the Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) fuel shed project in M. Mulah, Council President Ahmed Jamal stated that land has been officially allocated for the facility. This initiative is part of FSM’s broader project to establish fuel sheds across every atoll.

In this regard, the land was handed over to FSM in September 2025. However, Jamal noted that no physical work on the project has commenced to date.

We reviewed the progress updates, and according to FSM, the civil works had already been contracted out. However, three to four months have since passed, and there has been no further communication or progress from the contractors.

The project to establish fuel storage systems in every atoll across the Maldives was officially launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in 2024. At the time, Shimad Ibrahim, the Managing Director of the State Trading Organization (STO), stated that the initiative aims to complete the installation of fuel setups in all atolls by February 2026. As part of this timeline, it has been announced that the construction of the fuel shed in M. Mulah is scheduled for completion by the end of October 2025.
