The M. Mulah Island Council has expressed concern over the continued delay in commencing the physical works of the island's housing project.
Expressing his concerns in an interview with RaajjeTV, the President of the M. Mulah Island Council, Ahmed Jamal, stated that the contract for the construction of 50 housing units in Mulah was awarded to a company in September 2023.
However, Jamal noted that when the contractor was questioned regarding the lack of progress on the project, they stated that work could not commence because the process of compensating the owners of the trees and vegetation on the designated land had not yet been finalized.
He further noted that although a month has passed since the detailed inventory required for the land handover was submitted to the Ministry, the financial arrangements remain unresolved.
The M. Mulah housing project was among those awarded to various contractors during a government ceremony held to distribute projects to 200 companies. President Muizzu, during a visit to Mulah in September 2025, also stated that physical work on the housing project would commence within that same year.
