M. Mulah Harbor Project Stalls After Restart

The President of the M. Mulah Island Council, Ahmed Jamaal, has stated that the Mulah harbor project remains stalled, despite being officially re-inaugurated and restarted by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. The project had originally commenced during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

In an interview with RaajjeTV, M. Mulah Council President Jamaal stated that the project was initiated in 2023 during President Solih’s administration. Jamaal noted that while dredging operations were underway at that time, the work has since come to a standstill. He added that although progress continued briefly after President Muizzu took office, all activity on the project has now ceased.

Jamaal stated that President Muizzu visited Mulah in September 2025 and officially re-inaugurated the harbor project. He further noted that while dredging operations had been underway at that time, the project has since come to a standstill.

Jamaal expressed concern over the numerous challenges faced due to the small size of the harbor in Mulah.

Particularly as this is a prominent fishing island, the small size of the harbor leads to significant congestion. The Council faces a major challenge as the harbor remains at full capacity, with cargo boats traveling to Malé and fishing vessels constantly competing for space. I would like to highlight that the Council has prioritized this project and has specifically requested the President to ensure its completion.

Jamaal stated that the project has been at a standstill since before this year's Ramadan. He noted that while assurances were given at the time that concrete blocks would arrive after the fasting month, no further updates have been provided since then.
