President Muizzu extends greetings to Maldivian youth across the globe

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his best wishes to young people across the globe on the occasion of International Youth Day.

In his message on the occasion of National Youth Day, President Muizzu reaffirmed the government's steadfast commitment to empowering young people by fostering an environment where every Maldivian youth can achieve their full potential.

In a special message issued to mark International Youth Day on August 12, he highlighted the theme of the day, which centers on the shared aspirations of individuals from diverse backgrounds. He noted that young people from different islands, communities, and cultures experience vastly different realities. However, he emphasized that all youth share common hopes, such as access to quality education, meaningful opportunities, a life of dignity, and the promise of a brighter future for themselves and their families.

Noting that approximately 45 percent of the Maldivian population consists of youth, the President highlighted the vital role they play in shaping the nation's future. He commended the achievements and aspirations of young people across various fields—including religion, education, science, and sports—stating that these accomplishments are a testament to the generation's dedication to achieving success.

He highlighted that efforts are underway to expand higher education and training opportunities at a national level, ensuring that job creation keeps pace with academic achievements. In this regard, he noted that the National Apprenticeship Program and the National Service Program are specifically designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students moving from the academic environment into the workforce.

Expressing his profound confidence in Maldivian youth, the President stated that their ideas, voices, and aspirations are invaluable assets to national development. Commending their vigor and resilience, he expressed his conviction that the sincerity and drive of the youth will steer the nation toward a future of self-sufficiency, resilience, and sustainable development. In a message shared on X to mark International Youth Day, the President further emphasized the pivotal role young people play in national progress and highlighted their vital contribution to shaping the future of the country.

International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12th to raise awareness about youth-related issues and to recognize the potential of young people as key partners in global development.
