New Deadline Set for Kihaadhoo Health Center Project Amid Pledge Delays

Responding to an inquiry in Parliament, the Minister further confirmed that the island has already been provided with a new ambulance, fulfilling key pledges made to the community by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The government has set a new deadline for the construction of the extension building at the B. Kihaadhoo Health Center, following a prolonged delay in fulfilling the pledge made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his presidential campaign.
President Muizzu has acknowledged that as his administration approaches its second year, physical work has yet to commence on any of the projects he pledged for B. Kihaadhoo.
During his visit to the island last August, President Muizzu addressed the residents and acknowledged that the pledges made to Kihaadhoo during his presidential campaign remain unfulfilled. The President further admitted that commitments to develop the health sector, specifically the expansion of the local health center and the procurement of an ambulance, have yet to be realized.
As the year reaches its midpoint, Mauroof Zakir, the Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, has questioned Health Minister Geela Ali regarding the latest updates on the project.
Responding to the inquiry during Monday's parliamentary sitting, Geela stated that the contract for the construction of an extension building to expand the capacity of the B. Kihaadhoo Health Centre has already been awarded. She further noted that the project has now been mobilized to the island.

Geela also stated that an ambulance has been provided to Kihaadhoo and the service has now officially commenced.
Residents are expressing concern over President Muizzu's failure to fulfill his pledge to expand the local health center's capacity. This project was a key campaign promise made by the President to the island during the presidential election.
