Fayaz's Question: If Muizzu was the one driving the administration during Yameen's presidency, why is he struggling to complete even a single project today?
9 އޯގަސްޓު 2026 | އާދީއްތަ 08:30Captain Fayaz has dismissed claims that President Muizzu was the primary figure running the state during President Yameen’s administration, labeling such assertions as baseless. He highlighted that as the current government approaches the midpoint of its term, it has failed to complete a single housing project or fulfill its promises to the citizens. Fayaz further noted that while government officials continue to make hollow statements, the public remains deeply disillusioned with the current state of the nation.

Captain Ahmed Fayaz (Papa), the former commander of the MNDF Male’ Area, has issued a sharp rebuke to claims made by Baarashu MP Ibrahim Shujaau, who asserted that the state was effectively run by current President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu during his tenure as Housing Minister under former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Fayaz stated that Shujau’s claims—suggesting President Yameen spent most nights playing cards while Dr. Muizzu managed state affairs and projects through the Housing Ministry—are entirely baseless.
Fayaz questioned why, if Dr. Muizzu was indeed the one running the state at the time, he is now struggling to execute any projects while serving as the country's President.
Criticizing the current administration's actions, Fayaz stated that senior government officials are engaging in baseless rhetoric, likening their remarks to the idle gossip found in island social sheds. He further asserted that this administration lacks any sense of direction or substance. He also noted that as the government approaches the midpoint of its term, it has failed to produce any tangible results for the public.
Fayaz highlighted that the current administration has failed to achieve any significant progress, particularly in the housing sector. He noted that since assuming office, the government has not managed to complete a single housing project.
Furthermore, he accused the government of neglecting its responsibility to fulfill the promises made to the people during the election.
If President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was the one managing the state and spearheading projects through the Housing Ministry back then, why is it that not a single project can be initiated now? What we are witnessing today is the government engaging in the kind of idle gossip typically heard at island gathering spots. This administration lacks any sense of direction or substance. As we approach the midpoint of their term, what exactly has been accomplished? They have failed to complete even a single housing project.Ahmed Fayaz (Papa)
Fayaz further stated that the public is currently deeply disillusioned by the government's performance and its failure to fulfill its pledges. He noted that while attempts have been made to credit the current President with the achievements of President Yameen's administration, the prevailing situation reflects quite the opposite.
