The Ministry of Defence has been granted exclusive access to the waterfront area on Boduthakurufaanu Magu, stretching from the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building to the Doshimeyna Building, effectively closing the zone to the general public.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development issued an announcement on August 4 regarding the redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu on the northern waterfront of Malé. The Ministry officially notified the public that the newly constructed quay wall stretching from the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building to the Dhoshimeyna Building (Coast Guard Building) has been designated for the exclusive use of the Ministry of Defence and National Security.
Effective immediately, all vessels are prohibited from docking at the landward quay of this area, with the exception of those belonging to the Ministry of Defence and National Security.
With this new arrangement, the public access previously enjoyed in this area will come to an end.
