Commissioner General of Taxation Fathimath Ameeza has stated that priority will be given to working closely with taxpayers, acknowledging the challenges they face due to global instability and ongoing economic difficulties.
In a message delivered on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed stated that a modern, convenient, and technology-driven tax system has been established in the Maldives. He further noted that this achievement is the result of collaborative efforts between taxpayers and various other institutions.
Highlighting that 96 percent of tax returns and 99 percent of payments are currently processed digitally, Ameeza noted that MIRA’s services have now been successfully transitioned to accessible online platforms.
Ameeza stated that amidst these economic challenges, she will work alongside taxpayers to encourage compliance and ensure the tax system is administered with fairness and equity.
Furthermore, he stated that priority will be given to ensuring the smooth implementation of legislative amendments to the tax system.
