Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has pushed back deadlines for some tourism sector tax payments.
In an announcement on Thursday, MIRA revealed that they have pushed back the deadlines for filing and paying taxes with a bid to provide eases at a time Maldives is struggling to control a surge in Covid-19 cases. As such, the precautionary measures and restrictions in place are paving challenges for those paying taxes.
With this being said, MIRA has extended the deadline for tax payments in Green Tax and GST for the tourism sector that come after 27 May 2021, until 15 June 2021.
The same changes have been brought to the deadlines that fall between May 27 and the date MIRA is scheduled to reopen its counters for services. The new deadlines for these are to be announced after MIRA’s counters are reopened for services.
Those who wish to contact MIRA for more information and inquiries, may do so during official working hours through 1415, as well as through Viber at 9821415.
MIRA has extended the deadline to pay and file taxes owing to the closure of their service desks.
