The IRDA has announced the names of BPT defaulters and income tax defaulters under the rule of disclosure of tax returns.
These include those who have not paid their BPT for the taxable periods up to December 31, 2019, those who have not filed their income tax returns for the taxable periods of 2020 and The list of 393 persons has been released by MIRA.
Those who have not filed and paid their tax returns will be removed from the list, MIRA said. If taxpayers refuse to pay the tax due in one lump sum during this period, the amount can be paid in installments under the installment plan.
The agency has now started taking additional measures under its enforcement policy to recover unpaid taxes and other money. Those who have not yet filed their tax returns should do so and those who have not paid their taxes should pay their taxes without delay or enter into a tax payment agreement with MIRA.
