Vandalism at Hulhumalé mosque results in shattered windows and significant damage
Police are investigating an act of vandalism at a mosque in Hulhumalé after receiving reports that a glass window was shattered early Monday morning around 3:47 a.m., though authorities have not yet disclosed the specific identity of the mosque targeted.

The Maldives Police Service has reported that a mosque in Hulhumalé has been vandalized, with one of its glass panels shattered.
In a message to the media, the police stated that an incident involving the shattering of a glass window and other damages at a mosque in Hulhumalé was reported to the authorities at approximately 3:47 a.m. on Monday. However, officials did not specify which mosque was targeted.
Police further stated that the department is conducting a more detailed investigation into the matter.
Several mosques in the Malé area have previously been subjected to acts of vandalism. In one such incident last June, a group of individuals targeted the Masjid al-Furqan. The incident involved the shattering of the mosque's glass windows and the scattering of copies of the Holy Quran across the floor.
A suspect previously arrested for vandalizing the Furqan Mosque was subsequently released from custody. At the time, the individual admitted to prior acts of vandalism against the mosque, stating that he felt no remorse for his actions.
Furthermore, incidents involving the theft of equipment such as fans from mosques in the Greater Malé area have also surfaced in the past.
