Opposition figures are expressing particular concern, alleging that the government continues to appoint individuals facing corruption charges to high-ranking positions.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that his administration will show no favoritism toward anyone when it comes to corruption cases, regardless of their status or position.
Speaking at the official ceremony marking the Maldives' Independence Day, President Muizzu stated that his administration is the most committed to ensuring the full enforcement of anti-corruption measures.
President Muizzu announced that an Asset Recovery Bill will be submitted to recover all state funds lost during previous administrations. He further noted that a bill to amend the Penal Code has already been introduced to facilitate enforcement. The President also affirmed his administration's commitment to remaining steadfast in ensuring that those involved in corruption cases are held accountable and penalized.

However, numerous allegations of corruption involving various state-owned enterprises have surfaced over the past two years.
Following his dismissal from the post of Managing Director at HDC amid allegations of corruption, Fazul Rasheed has been appointed as the PNC Campaign Manager for Vaavu Atoll. Similarly, Muaz Mohamed Rasheed, the former Managing Director of Fenaka who resigned while facing corruption allegations, has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of MWSC.
Concurrently, allegations have surfaced regarding the distribution of cash to Members of Parliament from Dhimyaath, the private residence of President Muizzu. However, no senior government official has issued a formal response to these specific allegations. Despite this silence, opposition figures and members of the public continue to raise persistent concerns over what they describe as a sharp increase in corruption under the current administration.
