The Vice President of the Employment Tribunal, Fathimath Maheera Mohamed, has been abruptly dismissed from her post.
According to a report by Adhadhu news, Maheera was dismissed from her position on July 21.
President Muizzu has reportedly dismissed Maheera from her post abruptly, without any prior warning. Sources indicate that the removal was sudden and lacked any legal justification or grounds for dismissal.
Maheera is reported to be the member who has presided over the highest number of cases at the Tribunal. Following the resignation of the Tribunal's President last April, she has also been serving as the acting head of the office.
An official comment from Maheera regarding this matter is yet to be obtained. Furthermore, no government authorities have released any information concerning the issue.
Amjad Mustafa was appointed as the President of the Employment Tribunal on July 21.
Maheera's dismissal comes at a time when state-owned enterprises are undergoing a wave of staff terminations. This also coincides with the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) filing cases with the Employment Tribunal on behalf of the dismissed employees.
