Maldives Customs Service has seized over 3.1 kilograms of narcotics attempted to be smuggled into the country via sea.
These items were seized during an operation conducted on July 23, 2026.
According to Maldives Customs Service, the substances seized during this operation have been identified as synthetic cathinones. Customs officials confirmed that the total weight of the confiscated drugs amounted to 3,110 grams.
Customs estimates that the seized items have a total street value exceeding 5.6 million Maldivian Rufiyaa.
Customs stated that this is a significant success in their ongoing efforts to prevent the smuggling of narcotics into the Maldives.
The seized narcotics have been handed over to the police for further examination and to facilitate the ongoing investigation into the matter.
