Kulhudhuffushi City Council spearheads project to modernize a market!

The Kulhudhuffushi City Council has announced that a project is underway to modernize the city's "Honihiru Baazaaru" which translates to "Saturday Market," an initiative spearheaded by the council itself.

In an interview with RaajjeTV, the Kulhudhuffushi City Council stated that the project is being funded through the council's budget and is expected to address several key concerns raised by the public.

In a statement to RaajjeTV, the Kulhudhuffushi City Council noted that the "Saturday Market" was originally established during the first MDP administration. The council further highlighted that every Saturday, residents from various islands across the atoll travel to the city to sell a variety of goods, including agricultural produce.

The council has now deliberated and decided to develop the site based on a traditional market concept. According to the council, their vision is to develop the area as a sheltered facility, ensuring that business operations can continue uninterrupted even during rainy weather.

The council stated that once the project is completed, the space will also serve as a lobby area for visitors traveling to the island for various purposes. The council further noted that the project is being developed with a focus on ensuring comfort and convenience for all users of the market area.
