Former Member of Parliament for the Central Maafannu constituency, Ibrahim Rasheed (Bonda), has dismissed claims regarding the construction of parking buildings as "fairytales."
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "Fala Surukhee" program, Rasheed stated that Male’ is the most congested city in the world, noting that there is no available space left to construct parking buildings.
He stated that the more parking buildings are constructed in Malé, the more congested the city will become. Bondā further dismissed the idea of building parking structures as a fabrication, noting that the only available space for such projects is within cemeteries. He characterized the claims of constructing lift-operated buildings to park cars and motorcycles in those areas as nothing more than a myth.
The question remains: where exactly in Malé can a parking building be constructed? The city is already grappling with extreme congestion and overpopulation. Furthermore, Rasheed stated that President Muizzu’s administration is actively attempting to deceive the public, asserting that these efforts are being carried out on an extensive scale. Referring to the government’s decision to commission the Maldives National University to conduct a study on Male’ City’s carrying capacity, Bonda argued that such a study is unnecessary, as the public is already well aware of the reality of the situation.
