Deadline extended for Zakat Scholarship applications
The Maldives Zakat House has opened applications for 30 scholarships, inviting proposals for Master’s and PhD programs in Islamic studies as well as other fields of significant social benefit. These opportunities include options for study both locally and abroad, featuring specialized tracks for training female doctors and dedicated scholarships for students pursuing higher education in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The Maldives Zakat House has extended the application deadline for its 2026 Higher Education Scholarship and Special Scholarship programs to provide interested candidates with additional time to apply.
With this change, the deadline previously set for July 16, 2026, has been extended to 14:00 on August 16, 2026.
Launched on May 17, 2026, this scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to Maldivian students seeking to pursue Master’s (Level 9) and PhD (Level 10) degrees, both locally and abroad.
According to the Maldives Zakat House, a total of 40 opportunities have been opened under this program. This includes 10 scholarships for studies within the Maldives, 20 for overseas studies, and five opportunities providing stipends for students currently studying in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Additionally, five slots have been allocated to train female doctors in specialized fields related to women's health.
According to the Maldives Zakat House, a total of 30 scholarship opportunities are being offered under this initiative. This includes 10 slots for local studies and 20 slots for students pursuing higher education abroad.
