Maradhoo Boalhadhanduge closed following allegations that the premises were being used for drug consumption
As part of an ongoing police operation to shut down drug dens, a court has ordered the closure of a property known as "Boalhadhanduge" in S. Maradhoo for a period of 90 days. Authorities have warned that legal action will be taken against anyone entering the premises without authorization, while reaffirming their commitment to intensifying efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks.

The Maradhoo Magistrate Court has issued an order to shut down a property in Addu City, identified as S. Maradhoo / Boalhadhanduge, over allegations that it was being operated as a drug den.
Police announced on Monday that the order will remain in effect for 90 days, starting from July 12, 2026. Issued under the Drugs Act, this marks the first time the Maradhoo Magistrate Court has ordered the closure of a premises used for drug consumption.
Entering or exiting premises cordoned off under a court order without authorization during the specified period constitutes a legal offense.

Police have stated that legal action will be taken against individuals who enter such premises without authorization or cause damage to them in any manner.
Furthermore, the police highlighted the ongoing assistance and cooperation received from the public in their efforts to curb drug trafficking and distribution in Addu City.
The Maldives Police Service has stated that it will continue to exercise the powers granted under the Drug Act without interruption. Authorities further noted that efforts are underway to identify additional locations used for drug trafficking and consumption, and to shut down such premises in accordance with the law.
