Drugs worth MVR 5 million attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives via post, seized
Maldives Customs Service has seized 3.6 kilograms of synthetic cathinones attempted to be smuggled into the country via courier services. According to the authorities, the shipment was intercepted on June 18 and has an estimated street value of MVR 5 million.

Maldives Customs Service has seized narcotics with an estimated street value of MVR 5 million attempted to be smuggled into the country via post.
Customs announced on Thursday that they seized over 3.6 kilograms of narcotics attempted to be smuggled into the Maldives via post on June 18, 2024.
Customs has seized 3,610 grams of synthetic cathinone.
Customs stated that the street value of these seized drugs is estimated to exceed 5 million Maldivian Rufiyaa.
Maldives Customs regularly seizes significant quantities of narcotics being smuggled into the country via both air and sea routes.
In line with these efforts, authorities seized a significant quantity of narcotics, vapes, and illicit cigarette cartridges during attempts to smuggle them into the Maldives last month.
