The Naivaadhoo Island Council has expressed concern over the abrupt suspension of the harbor expansion and breakwater construction project initiated during the previous administration, following the unauthorized removal of machinery from the site.

Naivaadhoo Council informed RaajjeTV that this is a vital project initiated by the previous administration to expand the harbor's capacity and install rock boulders for the breakwater. However, the council noted that all work on the project has now come to a complete standstill.

The council further stated that the machinery brought to the island for the harbor project has now been removed. The council raised concerns over the matter, noting that they were not notified of the removal and are currently unaware of the equipment's whereabouts.

The council is currently engaging with relevant government authorities to address the difficulties faced by residents due to the project's suspension. According to the council, efforts are underway to clarify the reasons behind the project's stagnation and to obtain details regarding the future work schedule.

The Naivaadhoo Council’s primary objective is to resolve the ongoing deadlock regarding the island's harbor project and resume construction as soon as possible. The Council emphasized that the lack of a functional harbor remains one of the most significant challenges facing the residents, underscoring the urgent need for a swift resolution to the issue.
