Police have reported that four individuals are receiving hospital treatment following injuries sustained during a violent altercation between two groups.

Police stated that a report was received at approximately 3:12 p.m. on July 10, 2026, regarding an altercation between two groups in Kandholhumaa Goalhi, Villimalé.

Police reported that four individuals sustained injuries in the altercation and have been transported to the hospital for medical treatment. According to the police, the victims taken to the hospital are four Maldivian men, aged 18, 22, 27, and 31.

Police have confirmed that they are currently investigating the matter.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced last November that gangs had been eradicated from the Maldives. However, arrests continue to be made in cases involving individuals organized in gangs attempting to carry out acts of violence.

A young Nepali man has died while diving in the lagoon of Villimale'

Police reported that a man was found dead after going missing while diving in the Vilimale' lagoon on the morning of April 8, 2026. Authorities received the missing person report at approximately 6:30 a.m. and discovered the individual underwater at around 6:55 a.m. following a search operation. Although he was rushed to Vilimale' Hospital for emergency treatment, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
