Five arrested for kidnapping Bangladeshi national at Hulhumale' construction site
Police have arrested five Bangladeshi nationals in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a fellow compatriot at a construction site in Hulhumale'. The victim was rescued from Villingili during a special police operation and has since received hospital treatment for his injuries. Following their arrest, a court has remanded the five suspects in custody for 15 days as police continue their investigation into the incident.

Police have arrested five Bangladeshi men in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a fellow Bangladeshi national at a construction site in Hulhumale'.
According to the police, a report was received last Wednesday regarding a Bangladeshi national being held hostage inside a building under construction in Hulhumale'. Immediately upon receiving the report, police launched a special operation to rescue the victim.
Police stated that through their efforts, they were able to locate the hostage in Vilimale'. After rescuing the individual, police transported them to the hospital for medical treatment for injuries sustained during the ordeal. The victim has since been discharged from the hospital following treatment.
Police have arrested five Bangladeshi nationals in connection with this case. The suspects have been identified as MD Hossain (30), MD Mehedi Hasan (34), MD Shah Alam (39), Safif Hasan (38), and Rasel (20).
When the five individuals were produced before the court to determine their remand status, the court ordered them to be detained for a period of 15 days.
Police are currently investigating the cause of the incident and gathering further details. According to statistics, there has been a significant increase in such crimes among the expatriate community in the Maldives recently.
