The Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency, Mauroof Zakir, has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration is capable of resorting to any measure necessary in its pursuit of generating state revenue.
Speaking on a RaajjeTV talk show, Mauroof stated that the government reduced the price of tobacco products solely to generate revenue, suggesting that the current administration is willing to take any measure necessary to increase its income. Mauroof made these remarks while addressing First Lady Sajidha Mohamed’s recent call for citizens to wage to a personal "Jihad" to free themselves from tobacco addiction.
Tobacco prices have been lowered for the sake of revenue, yet a "jihad" is purportedly being waged against tobacco. The danger here is that any measure, regardless of its consequences, may be taken simply to generate income.Mauroof Zakir, Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency.

They are blatantly lying in broad daylight, and when they can no longer escape the consequences of those lies, they claim to have had a change of heart and corrected their course. They now assert that these changes were made only because the public demanded them.Mauroof Zakir, Member of Parliament for the Kendhoo constituency.
