President Muizzu still does not understand that scoring own goals leads to defeat in a football match: MP Ziyad
Vaikaradhoo MP Hussain Ziyad has sharply criticized the government's policies, alleging that the administration is prioritizing specific agendas over the public interest. Highlighting the ongoing challenges surrounding foreign currency exchange and pharmaceutical supplies, Ziyad noted that current government regulations are causing significant hardship for citizens. Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency, Hussain Ziyad has stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has yet to realize that scoring an own goal in a football match results in a loss.
Speaking on RaajjeTV’s "TV Talk" program, MP Ziyad stated that President Muizzu’s administration is characterized by rapid policy shifts, prioritizing its own specific objectives over the welfare of the public and the nation. He noted that this pattern is clearly evident in the government's handling of the current medicine and dollar shortages.
Referring to the country's financial situation, MP Ziyad stated that while state revenue is increasing, these funds are being collected directly from the public. He noted that although it places a burden on the people, they continue to fulfill their financial obligations to the state as they have no other choice. However, Ziyad emphasized that recent election results clearly demonstrate the public's dissatisfaction with these measures.
The government is currently employing what we call the "Gila Theory." By applying this theory, they intend to bring these issues to a halt. However, what has actually happened is the creation of a black market for illicit dollars. Instead of dismantling the black market, the Bank of Maldives is effectively formalizing it, thereby allowing it to persist. The same approach is being applied to illicit cigarettes, which are now being granted a permanent status. By providing a legal veneer to these activities, they claim to have solved the issue, much like their approach to the medicine shortage. The logic being used is: "Here is the medicine, take it; we don't care about the actual treatment as long as the medicine is available." Now, the government is restructuring companies to take over the sale of pharmaceuticals directly.Hussain Ziyad, Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
Furthermore, MP Ziyad remarked that while President Muizzu understands that winning a football match requires scoring goals, he has yet to realize that scoring own goals leads to defeat.
It is evident that President Muizzu understands that winning a football match requires scoring goals. However, what he fails to grasp is that scoring own goals does not lead to victory. He seems completely unaware of this distinction. Up until now, every goal he has scored has been against his own team. For two and a half years, he has been scoring own goals. Consequently, when the final whistle blows, the result will inevitably be a defeat.Hussain Ziyad, Member of Parliament for the Vaikaradhoo constituency.
MP Ziyad stated that President Muizzu has consistently scored own goals so far, and that the public does not accept this.
MP Ziyad stated that while citizens may not always take to the streets in constant protest against the government, they will ultimately defeat President Muizzu through the ballot box during the upcoming elections.
