Bills submitted to Parliament are designed to disregard President Muizzu's pledges and force public to forget them: Ameen
Kanditheemu MP Ameen Faisal has criticized the government's Digital Identity Bill, labeling it an attempt to mislead the public rather than fulfilling fundamental pledges. Highlighting the prolonged delays in essential water and sewerage projects for Kanditheemu, Noomara, and Bileffahi, the lawmaker emphasized that the administration should prioritize the equitable delivery of basic services even to the smallest populations. He concluded that the government must honor its primary commitments to the citizens before focusing on legislative frameworks for technology.

Member of Parliament for the Kanditheemu constituency, Ameen Faisal, has stated that the bills recently submitted to the People's Majlis by the government are intended to disregard President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's inaugural pledges and force the public to forget those commitments.
During Wednesday's Parliament sitting, while debating the government-proposed Digital Identity Bill, Ameen stated that instead of fulfilling fundamental pledges made to the citizens, the current administration appears to be focused on misleading the public.
I view these recent bills as a deliberate attempt to disregard the promises President Muizzu made to come to power and to force the public to forget them. Mr. Speaker, these bills are being introduced to facilitate the depletion of the entire budget while abandoning the fundamental commitments the President made in his speeches to the people and the written pledges sent to island councils.Ameen Faisal, Member of Parliament for the Kanditheemu constituency.
In his remarks, Ameen highlighted the current situation of the islands within his constituency of Kanditheemu. He noted that as the government approaches its second year in office, water and sewerage services have yet to be established in the newly populated areas of Kanditheemu, as well as in Noomaraa and Bileffahi.
I am highlighting the fact that within my constituency, there are islands still deprived of the most basic services mandated by the Constitution. For two years now, we have been unable to provide water and sanitation services to newly populated areas in Kanditheemu, Noomara, and Bileffahi.Member of Parliament for the Kanditheemu constituency, Ameen Faisal.
MP Ameen further stated that bills such as the Digital Identity Bill should only be introduced after the government has fulfilled its basic pledges to the citizens. He also emphasized that as the government carries out development projects, it must ensure that the needs of even the smallest populations are addressed with equity.
