Meekail: Unity is the secret to MDP's success; voters must remember the events of 2023 when electing a Chairperson

Meekail Ahmed Naseem, a candidate for the MDP chairpersonship, has stated that the party's winning formula for elections is unity. He urged members to remember the events of 2023 when casting their votes for the new chairperson.

Speaking at a meeting held by the "Ithubaaru" campaign team in Addu, Meekail stated that a review of MDP’s history demonstrates that party unity is essential for electoral success.

He stated that it is an evident reality that the MDP achieves electoral success only when it remains a united party.

He stated that the MDP lost the 2023 election due to the events that unfolded following the party's presidential primary. He further noted that with five or six potential candidates interested in the 2028 election, it is essential for the Chairperson to be a fair and impartial individual.

Meekail emphasized the necessity of treating all candidates equally, noting that endorsing a specific individual undermines the principle of a level playing field for those contesting the presidential election.

He further stated that marginalizing specific groups is not a policy he supports.
