Meekail launches "Ithubaaru" campaign in Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru
During his campaign visit to Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru for the MDP Chairperson election, Meekail Ahmed Naseem emphasized the critical need for a leader who can maintain party unity and guarantee fair primaries. Noting strong support from the general membership, he stated that the grassroots are seeking a trustworthy chairperson committed to the party's core principles. Furthermore, Meekail highlighted public grievances regarding the current administration's alleged interference with press freedom and its failure to provide essential services.

Meekail Ahmed Naseem, the Member of Parliament for South Galolhu and a candidate in the MDP Chairperson election, has met with party supporters in Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru.
During his visit to both islands on Monday, Meekail met with MDP supporters in Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru, where he also conducted door-to-door campaigning to drum up support for the upcoming election.
Speaking to RaajjeTV regarding campaign activities, Meekail stated that the "Ithubaaru" (Trust) campaign trips to Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru have been successfully concluded. He noted that MDP members in both islands consistently expressed a unified message: the importance of preventing party fragmentation and maintaining internal unity. Furthermore, he emphasized that the members are seeking a Chairperson who will ensure the upcoming presidential primary is a fair and equitable process, providing an equal opportunity for all candidates.
The residents of both Kaashidhoo and Gaafaru are making one thing very clear: they want to hand over the party’s helm to someone they can trust. They have repeatedly emphasized their desire for a leader who has stood by them in the past and will continue to do so in the future. Meekail stated that the general membership of the MDP desires a chairperson who provides certainty of their unwavering commitment to the party. He further noted that regardless of the election's outcome, the general members recognize a leader who consistently advocates for the people, highlighting issues such as the lack of access to cooking gas and essential medicine, while speaking out against the ongoing erosion of press freedom.
The election for the MDP Chairperson is scheduled to take place on June 12th.
