A case has been filed with the Criminal Court against former Presidents Mohamed Nasheed and Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, alleging they violated a "gag order" issued by the court regarding a documentary released by the news outlet Adhadhu. A private individual filed the motion on Monday, seeking a ruling that both former leaders are in contempt of court.

The case highlights that while President Nasheed has repeatedly violated the court order in various speeches, President Yameen has also continued to discuss the contents of the documentary. The claimant has submitted evidence to the court purportedly documenting these violations.

The case highlights that, in addition to two former presidents, several members of Parliament and other political figures have also violated the order. Among those named are MP for North Galolhu Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu), MP for South Galolhu Meekail Naseem, MP for Vaikaradhoo Hussain Ziyad, and MP for Kanditheemu Ameen Faisal. Furthermore, the case notes that President Mohamed Muizzu has also acted in violation of the court order.

In a court order issued on May 11, the Criminal Court imposed a total ban on the circulation of the documentary "Aisha." The injunction further prohibits any party from discussing the content of the video, whether directly or indirectly.

Furthermore, the court order prohibits the dissemination of any information regarding the parties involved or the victim, effectively imposing a gag order on the entire case. The court retains the authority to take legal action for contempt of court against any individual who violates this order.
