Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef has stated that the press conference scheduled with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was abruptly canceled due to the President's busy work schedule.
The press conference was originally scheduled for Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. However, shortly before the briefing was set to begin, the President's Office abruptly informed the media that the event had been canceled.
When questioned by RaajjeMV regarding the sudden cancellation of the press conference, the government spokesperson stated that the President would not be holding the briefing today due to his current work schedule.
The President has announced that, starting in March, one hour each week will be dedicated to meeting with the press. Specifically, these press briefings are scheduled to take place every Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The President noted that these sessions will be held consistently, provided there are no scheduling conflicts such as public holidays, official travel, or other unavoidable circumstances.
However, with just one hour remaining before the press conference was scheduled to begin, it remains unclear what urgent matter prompted its sudden cancellation.
