The leader of the PNC parliamentary group, Ibrahim Falah, has been accused of making defamatory and false statements against Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abbas, who has now announced his intention to pursue legal action.
During a PNC rally held on Thursday night in the presence of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Falah alleged that Abbas had been involved with a young woman for eight months in a rented apartment. Falah further claimed that after one of Abbas's children discovered the affair, his wife left him over the matter.
In response to these allegations, Abbas posted on X, stating that he condemns in the strongest possible terms the defamatory, false, and vile remarks made by Falah concerning his reputation and his family.
Abbas stated that all allegations made against him by Falah are outright lies, noting that his wife, children, family, and friends can attest to the truth. He further emphasized that anyone who knows him can bear witness to the fact that his family leads a highly respectable and happy life.
Abbas stated that his legal team is currently consulting on the necessary legal advice to pursue a defamation lawsuit, and that he is sharing this information for the public's awareness.
Falah further stated that Abbas was attempting to shift the blame onto others in an effort to suppress the matter.
In a meeting attended by President Muizzu, Falah leveled serious allegations against several members of the government.
