Velidhoo MP Mohamed Abbas has leveled serious allegations against a fellow lawmaker from the ruling People's National Congress (PNC), claiming the individual requested assistance in obtaining photos and videos of a young woman for the purpose of blackmail.
Abbas leveled these allegations in a post on X, claiming that the MP had orchestrated a major plot to blackmail a young woman.
Abbas stated that during the recent month of Ramadan, the PNC member contacted him to inquire about the specific apartment building and floor where a particular young woman resided. According to Abbas, when he questioned the purpose of the inquiry and who had requested the information, the member claimed he was looking into the matter at his wife's request.
Furthermore, Abbas stated that the Member of Parliament requested assistance in obtaining photos or videos to be used for blackmailing the girl. According to Abbas’s post, the MP also offered to provide the necessary funding and all the equipment required for the task.
However, Abbas stated that he denied the allegations, asserting that he would never engage in such uncivilized behavior. Abbas noted that his wife was present with him during the phone call with the member in question. He further explained that he immediately contacted the young woman to inform her of the blackmail attempt, which he claimed was an effort to cover up their illicit activities or keep the matter hidden.
