Our objective must be to defeat President Muizzu. Our goal must be to weaken President Muizzu's administration and remove him from power. Therefore, I reiterate regarding this election: in one month's time, you must work once again with our rival team. We are one people.Meekail Ahmed Naseem, the Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency, who is contesting for the position of Chairperson of the MDP.
He further urged all parties to conduct the election proceedings with mutual respect and harmony, reminding them that this is an internal party election.
Furthermore, Meekail expressed concern over the measures being taken by the government in response to the documentary released by Adhadhu news.

Furthermore, Meekail claimed that the government has launched a campaign of intimidation, which includes a police raid on the Adhadhu office and the seizure of various pieces of equipment.
The government is initiating legal action against four journalists from the Adhadhu news outlet. In what appears to be a systematic campaign of intimidation, several of the publication's journalists have been barred from leaving the country, while police have raided their office and confiscated various pieces of equipment. At a time when the Criminal Court has issued an order prohibiting all Maldivian citizens—without exception—from speaking on specific matters in a particular manner, I believe it is worth reflecting on how we reached this point and this current state of affairs.Meekail Ahmed Naseem, the Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency, who is contesting for the position of Chairperson of the MDP.
Meekail stated that at a time when the Criminal Court has issued orders restricting specific speech, it is crucial to reflect on the state of democracy and human rights in the Maldives. He reminded the public that the MDP was founded to guarantee human rights, freedom of expression, and press freedom.
Concluding his remarks, Meekail stated that it is deeply regrettable that as the MDP approaches its 20th anniversary, they are once again forced to advocate for fundamental constitutional rights due to the government's continued infringement upon them.
