Power outages across Hulhumale' Phase 2 were caused by damage to a cable during ongoing road construction work
State Electric Company (STELCO) has reported power outages affecting Hiyaa Towers 5, 6, and 7, all 10 Vinares towers, Aman Dhodhi units 12 through 16, Aman Udhares 5 and 6, and the MPL towers.

It has been revealed that the widespread power outage across a large part of Hulhumale' Phase II was caused by damage to a cable during road construction work conducted by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC).
A significant portion of Hulhumale' Phase 2 experienced a power outage at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. State Electric Company (STELCO) stated that the interruption occurred after a high-voltage cable was damaged during excavation work for a road construction project. While the utility provider confirmed that repair work is currently underway to restore electricity as quickly as possible, it did not specify an exact timeframe for when the service would be fully reinstated.
Although STELCO did not explicitly state that the cables were damaged during road construction work carried out by HDC, it is worth noting that HDC is currently managing the road development projects in Hulhumale'. Furthermore, photos circulating on social media show HDC employees active at the site where the cable damage occurred.

There has been a noticeable increase in sudden power outages across Hulhumale' recently. On the 12th of this month, several areas in Hulhumale' Phase 2 experienced a significant blackout. This outage, which included the Hiyaa Towers, left residents without electricity for the majority of the day.
