The theft of five air conditioning outdoor units from the vaccine storage facility at Male's Dhamanaveshi has created significant challenges in maintaining the required temperatures for vaccine preservation. The perpetrators reportedly gained access through a construction hoarding in the area, and despite an ongoing police investigation, an additional unit was stolen. As vaccine storage requires precise temperature control, staff are currently employing alternative measures to stabilize the environment and protect the integrity of the medical supplies.

A source informed RaajjeMV that a total of five air conditioning outdoor units have been stolen from Dhamanaveshi. According to the source, one unit was stolen on Wednesday, followed by the theft of four additional units. The outdoor units were reportedly stolen after intruders gained access through the cordoned-off area of the former Thalassemia Center, where construction is currently underway to develop a GP Clinic.
The source stated that the theft of the outdoor units was reported to the police as soon as it was discovered. Although officers visited the scene on Tuesday, another unit was reportedly stolen the following day.
According to reports, the outdoor unit was stolen from the air conditioning system of the vaccine storage room at Dhamanaveshi. As the facility requires precise temperature control, staff are currently employing alternative measures to maintain the necessary cooling levels in the absence of the air conditioning unit.
The outdoor air conditioning units at Dhamanaveshi have been stolen, leaving the facility unable to maintain the required temperatures for stored vaccines. Despite the risk to the supplies, no action has been taken to resolve the issue so far.
Dhamanaveshi is the primary facility for administering routine pediatric vaccinations, as well as various other immunizations, including those required for individuals traveling for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
