Three expatriates arrested in Male' on suspicion of possessing and trafficking alcohol are set to be deported
Police have taken three Sri Lankan nationals into custody following a raid on a house in Malé, where a large quantity of alcohol and cash were seized. The suspects have since been handed over to Immigration authorities for deportation, while police continue to investigate the matter.

Authorities have decided to deport three expatriates arrested in Male' on suspicion of possessing and trafficking alcohol.
The individuals arrested in connection with the alcohol-related case have been identified as Mahes Indirajith Silva, 42, Kalyani Edirisinghe Appuhamilage, 48, and Manjula Kumara Rathnayake Mudiyanse, 50. All three suspects are Sri Lankan nationals.
The three suspects were apprehended on the 28th of this month during a joint operation conducted by Counter-Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement, following a search of a residence in Malé. During the raid, authorities seized 24 bottles (500ml) of suspected alcohol and a large container also believed to contain alcohol. Additionally, officers confiscated over 38,000 Maldivian Rufiyaa and more than 1,100 US Dollars.
Following the completion of all necessary legal procedures, the three individuals arrested in connection with this case have been handed over to Maldives Immigration for deportation.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
