Member of Parliament for South Galolhu, Meekail Ahmed Naseem, who is contesting the MDP chairperson election, has stated that he seeks to win the seat through the votes of general members who have worked tirelessly alongside the party for the past 16 years.
Speaking at a street rally organized by his "Ithubaaru" (Trust) campaign team, Meekail stated that his bid for the MDP Chairpersonship is not a stepping stone to a higher office. He emphasized that his sole focus is on serving as the party's Chairperson and that he does not view this election merely as a means to secure a position.
Meekail stated that he does not wish to serve as the MDP's interim chairperson through a National Congress vote or as an appointee of the council. He emphasized that while internal solutions and avenues for dialogue remain available within the party, he refuses to be someone who undermines the party's interests by taking the election matter to court.
I have no intention of being the person who undermines our collective interests by taking this election to court, especially when solutions and discussions can still be found within the party. Rest assured and place your trust in me; we will secure a decisive victory in this election with the overwhelming support of the MDP’s general membership. The members of this "yellow army" can trust that we stand for the truth. I am seeking the position of MDP Chairperson to be honest with our members. I will not be the kind of person who resorts to lies and deception to manipulate the emotions of MDP members whenever I face a setback or disappointment.Meekail Ahmed Naseem, Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency
